Born in Rome in 1979 and now based in Turin, Jacopo Mandich graduated in Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 2005. The following year, he won the Edgardo Mannucci Prize. In 2015, he attended two-year postgraduate courses at the Academies of Fine Arts in Urbino and Turin, and that same year became the first Italian artist invited to the Contemporary Biennale in Yekaterinburg, Russia. In 2018, he continued his training with a Master’s in Sculpture at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle, Germany.
His artistic research balances sensory and intellectual knowledge, opinion and science, understanding and belief. At the heart of his work is the alchemical and energetic interaction that runs through matter: wood, iron, stone and other materials, brought into contact with one another, generate a muscular short circuit capable of giving rise to powerful, vibrant and astonishing sculptural structures. Through these forms, Mandich explores the hidden and intangible energies that animate the flow of human life.
